Working Principle

VN1160T-E is a low-cost, high efficiency, off-line AC-DC switch-mode power conversion solution. It consists of a bridge rectifier, power switching, current-mode control and standby functions. With its high-voltage start-up, the VN1160T-E can start up and regulate output voltage quickly and accurately.

The power switching stage consists of two high voltage power MOSFETs. The operation of the MOSFETs is controlled by the current-mode control scheme. The current-mode control scheme provides a cycle-by-cycle current limit and over-current protection. It also ensures a constant switching frequency and a low-loss topology.

When the rectified voltage is close to the regulation value, the VN1160T-E enters the standby mode, making the power consumption and system noise low. When the load current is low or the rectified voltage is high, the VN1160T-E will enter the semi-burst mode, insuring the output voltage is always in regulation with low standby power consumption.
