Application Field of VN7007
VN7007 is a monolithic buck regulator which integrates high and low side MOSFETs, linear controller and feedback monitoring, which can provide a configurable 8A step-down regulator for the wide input voltage range from 15V to 90V. The high switching frequency of the device, up to 1.2 MHz, helps reduce the size, weight and cost of the power solution. As a result, VN7007 is ideal in applications where small size, low weight and low cost are required such as front-end power, low-power industrial systems, and telecom/datacom systems.

Working Principle of VN7007
VN7007 works in a continuous conduction mode (CCM) buck regulator to convert a high voltage power bus into a regulated low voltage output. It forms a complete power supply system on chip with a wide range of feedback monitoring blocks which make the VN7007 safe, reliable and configurable in various applications.The VN7007 has three stages. The first stage consists of a high side N-Channel MOSFET (HSFET) and a low side N-Channel MOSFET (LSFET), as well as an optional (more accurately, configurable) boost inductor. During each switching cycle, the HSFET is turned on first and regulated to an approximate regulated voltage (V_DRIVE). When the voltage reaches the threshold of V_DRIVE, the second stage of the VN7007 is triggered to start. In the second stage, the LSFET is turned on to present a series drop across the boost inductor and the source of the LSFET. This produces a regulated output voltage. At the same time, the HSFET is kept turned on to maintain the regulated voltage. Then, the third stage is triggered to start. In the third stage, HSFET and LSFET are turned off and the output voltage is held in the present state.
