Introduction

VND600SPTR-E is a power distribution switch, load driver and Differential Output stage in a single package, providing high efficiency and low power consumption. It is designed to be used in design requirements with limited space and power budget and provides many features of flexibility and special functions which are ideal for applications that require multiple daisy-chained (DC) switches and power management in a very small form factor.

Applications

Features

VND600SPTR-E is designed to combine the features of a power distribution switch with the functions of a load driver. It features a port-to-port differential output stage, allowing for a low overall power consumption and high efficiency. The device also features a wide input voltage range, providing flexibility to match various customer applications. The low on resistance (R ON ) of the device provides low power loss during switch over. The device can handle both high and low current loads.The device also includes special control and protection features. The on-board ESD (electrostatic discharge) protection provides robust performance against transients and EMI, while the integrated thermal protection triggers at a 170°C overheating threshold. Additionally, the device includes a low input voltage monitor, enabling the host processor to monitor the battery voltage level.

Working Principle

VND600SPTR-E device can provide up to five (5) switch lines which can be used to control up to five devices independently. The power distribution switch is used to control the power supply to the load and to handle the current flow. When the switch is opened, no current flows from the power supply to the load. When the switch is closed, current flows from the power supply to the load and is regulated by the load driver, which is capable of driving up to 25 voltages up to 100W at a maximum current of 5A.When the switch is closed, the internal load driver controls the voltage and current across the load and provides additional protection. The load driver is capable of providing over-temperature and ESD protection for the load. The ESD protection works by clamping the voltage at specified ESD limits. The thermal protection works by sensing the temperature of the load driver and clamping the thermal limits to shut off the load driver. The low input voltage monitor monitors the input voltage of the power supply, and provides alarm signals to the host system when the voltage is lower than the threshold voltage.
