PTC Resettable Fuses are used to protect electronic applications against short-circuits and other types of overcurrents by electronically disconnecting the application and preventing further damage. While traditional fuses physically break when too much current is passed through them, Resettable Fuses, also known as Polymer Positive Temperature Coefficient (PPTC) devices, are designed to reset themselves once the short-circuit or other type of overcurrent condition has ended and the application can be reconnected. VTP175ULHF Resettable Fuses are one such PTC component.
VTP175ULHF Resettable Fuses are designed to protect applications in harsh environments. The component comprises a thin film prone to deformation when exposed to high temperatures caused by excessive current. This performance is a result of the PTC technology, which is based on a negative temperature coefficient characteristic of an organic polymer, polyphenylene oxide (PPO). VTP175ULHF Resettable Fuses house a flame retardant cladding, allowing for an “automatic” reset once the problematic overcurrent situation is over.
The VTP175ULHF Resettable Fuses provide robust overcurrent protection, with the ability to operate in temperatures up to 175°C. Thanks to their hermetically sealed construction, these components resist dust, dirt, oil, and other environmental contaminants. In addition, the VTP175ULHF Resettable Fuses can operate withstanding shock and vibration levels up to 32g and have a long service lifetime of up to 100 hours.
