The X40420V14-AT1 supervisor IC provides the fastest reset response time available, and its auto-clearing feature allows it to cycle through the reset pulse until the system is operational. It also features an integrated temperature sensor that can detect both negative and positive temperature deltas to protect against extreme temperatures. The temperature sensors can be configured for either fail-safe or fail-open reset operation.
For improved system reliability, the X40420V14-AT1 supervisor IC also provides over-voltage monitoring and protection, input surge protection, and thermal shutdown. The over-voltage protection feature allows for setting of a maximum voltage threshold to prevent damage from high-voltage supply transients. The input surge protection feature allows the device to detect inrush current caused by power supply startup and allows the system to continue operation until the inrush current is safely discharged. The thermal shutdown feature prevents damage from excessive temperatures by limiting system operation until the device cools down to safe operating temperatures.
The X40420V14-AT1 offers integrated features such as run enable, Sleep Mode, and Holdoff Mode to provide system designers with additional flexibility and protection. The run enable feature allows the designer to configure the supervisor IC to enable or disable system operation under certain conditions; Sleep Mode allows system operation to be delayed at power-on, while the Holdoff Mode feature limits system operation until a prescribed level of external voltage is present at the device.
