X40431V14-AT1 comes in a 14-pin, 2mm × 2mm MLP/QFP package. It is an adjustable single/dual-channel low-voltage supervisor with a single Trip Point Threshold that can be recommended for multiple supply voltage power-up/power-down sequencing, two-level reset switching, manual reset and reset signal output-side protection from over-voltage and ESD.Applications of X40431V14-AT1 include systems with multiple supply voltages, such as microcontrollers, DSPs, and processors, allowing for improved voltage accuracy and adjustable reset thresholds. It also provides ESD-level protection as well as protecting the system from undesirable cycling, over-temperature and Brown-Out events. It also features fixed and adjustable delays to induce delays between the first and second stages of reset.Working Principle
X40431V14-AT1 provides two pins, RESET_IN and RESET_OUT. Whenever RESET_IN is driven high and it exceeds a predetermined threshold, the output pin, RESET_OUT, will be driven low, thus signaling a reset to the system. This threshold is adjustable to the required value and can be programmed by connecting the appropriate resistor divider from the adjustment pin.The delay after power-up is adjustable over a wide range between 5ms and 17s, with an adjustable hysteresis to guarantee a reset when the supply returns after a 0.2V dip due to internal dropouts. This delay and hysteresis combination ensures that spurious resets due to supply dropouts are avoided.X40431V14-AT1 also features a watchdog timer with an adjustable timeout of 10ms to 10s. This timer is programmable using a single capacitor, such that each cycle of the timer is extended by the period determined by the capacitor. This timer can also be used to monitor the microcontroller, thus ensuring that system health is maintained.In addition, X40431V14-AT1 also has an internal power-on/ power-off sequencer that allows the processor to remain in reset until the power supply full stabilizes, thus providing improved voltage accuracy.Conclusion
