It monitors three voltage zones with selectable trip points of 2.55V/2.63V/2.7V/2.85V/3.0V/4.0V/4.4V/4.6V. This family of supervisors has various power-up timing options along with three reset output levels available.The X4163V8 also has the ability to monitor external sense pins for undervoltage conditions and soft-start to reduce the inrush current during power-up. Additional features include active wake-up, power-good signal, and reset signal pushed onto an SMbus as well as an open drain reset pin.Application FieldThe X4163V8 is applicable in situations where reset signal is essential for power management, circuit protection and electronic system safety. Some other applications include desktop and notebook computers, gaming machines, hard disks, and telecom/networking equipment.Working PrincipleThe X4163V8 has reset outputs which provide the capability to reset a system in the event of a power failure. It monitors voltage levels at the VDD and VMON pins, and the voltage on the sense pins (SEN0, SEN1 and SEN2).When the power supply voltage is applied on the VDD pin, the supervisor monitors the VMON and sense pin voltage levels. When the VMON voltage falls below the user-selectable trip threshold, the supervisor enters reset mode and responds accordingly by asserting the active low reset output.When the power supply voltage is being removed from the VDD pin, the supervisor enters into power-down mode. In this case, the trip and sense pin monitoring are put into a low current state and the reset pin is inactive and asserted high.Therefore, the X4163V8 PMIC Supervisor is an integrated circuit designed to provide comprehensive power control and reset capabilities in embedded systems and other electronic applications that require reset signal on power failure.
