The XC6SLX100-N3CSG484C is a member of the Xilinx Spartan-6 family. A Field Programmable Gate Array, or FPGA, is an integrated circuitry containing Configurable Logic Blocks (CLBs) and a wide variety of dedicated and reconfigurable functions. This chip is designed to meet the requirements of applications with high speed and throughput, fast inputs and outputs, minimal power consumption and very small solution sizes. A field programmable gate array (FPGA) can be used for a wide variety of general and specialized processing applications.

The XC6SLX100-N3CSG484C device is particularly suited to any application that requires high system integration, such as consumer electronics, industrial, automotive and medical systems. This device offers a considerably improved speed of operation, while providing a smaller form factor and lower power consumption. This FPGA is optimized to run at up to 300MHz, with up to 32Mbits of block RAM, and supports up to 480 reconfigurable signal pins. This device is designed to provide a sophisticated feature set, yet with a balance of power consumption and speed performance.

The XC6SLX100-N3CSG484C offers a programmable interconnect, allowing an application to be suitably tailored to match the particular user input and output requirements. The programmable interconnect allows direct connections between various portions of the FPGA architecture. Additionally, the XC6SLX100-N3CSG484C offers a dedicated Multiplier, a Clock divider and a Clock multiplexer all of which can be used for specialized signal conditioning operations.

The XC6SLX100-N3CSG484C is able to provide very low power consumption and is capable of operating at temperatures ranging from -25 to +125 degrees Celsius. In addition the XC6SLX100-N3CSG484C has been designed to minimize EMI concerns with its on-board shielding. This FPGA also extends with its single voltage power supply capability, allowing the device to be powered by either 1.8V or 2.5V/3.3V sources.

The XC6SLX100-N3CSG484C supports the industry standard input and output (I/O) connections, such as asynchronous and synchronous memory, UARTs, Serial Flash Memories and PWM controllers. These functions can be easily implemented using the standard logic elements of the FPGA and the Controller Logic Blocks (CLBs). In addition, a wide variety of high-speed interfaces are also provided, such as PCI Express, DDR3, LVDS, Ethernet and various other high-speed serial protocols. As these devices support various high density interconnects, the user can expect a great deal of flexibility with regards to design reconfigurations and implementations.

The XC6SLX100-N3CSG484C also provides connectivity via its dedicated Direct Programmable IO (DPIO) Blocks. These DPIO blocks allow the user to program in a variety of bus topologies, such as daisy-chained, star-configured and bus-striped. Additionally, this FPGA also provides various built-in test and debug functions, such as boundary scan, performance monitoring and statistics gathering. This provides the user with a versatile system for testing and validating the FPGA’s design in its target environment.
