What is the defferent between variable capacitor and trimming capacitor?

 

1.Variable capacitor

The variable capacitor is mainly used in the transmission circuit and the local oscillating circuit. It is a capacitor which can be greatly reduced in a certain range and can be adjusted continuously in a certain range.

 

(1)Single variable capacitor.

This capacitor has only one variable capacitor. It is used in a direct radio circuit as a tuning link for selecting radio signals.

 

(2) Dual variable capacitor.

This capacitor is composed of two variable capacitors, and the capacity of the two variable capacitors is regulated synchronously by manual adjustment. It is used in superheterodyne medium wave and short wave radio circuits.

 

2.Trimming  capacitor

Trimming capacitor is also known as a semi-variable capacitor, its capacity range is much smaller than the variable capacitor, the capacitance can be adjusted in a small range and can be fixed to a certain capacitance value after adjustment.

 

1)The ceramic dielectric trimmer capacitor has the advantages of high Q value and small volume, which can be divided into two types, round tube type and wafer type.

2)Mica and polystyrene medium are usually spring type structure, simple structure, but poor stability.

3)The wire wound ceramic dielectric trimmer capacitor is to remove the copper wire ( external electrode ) to change the capacitance, so the capacity can only be smaller, which is not suitable for the occasions which need to be repeatedly debugged. This type of capacitor is mainly used for tuning circuit, usually used in conjunction with a variable capacitor, in shape, the general volume is relatively large.
