What is the working principle of RFID read head?

Last Update Time: 2021-05-25 11:24:16

The RFID read head is an RFID read and write module, which is to encapsulate the read head chip and communicate with the controller through a serial port or IIC. The RFID read head transmits the identification signal, which is equivalent to an antenna. According to the working frequency, the working frequency of the RFID system is the frequency used when the reader sends wireless signals, and can generally be divided into low frequency, high frequency, ultra high frequency and microwave. The read head chip is the radio frequency chip used in the RFID read-write module. The following editors introduce to readers friends about the principle of RFID reading head?

The working principle of RFID read head:

Radio Frequency Identification (Radio Frequency Identification, RFID for short) is a non-contact automatic identification technology. Its basic principle is to use the transmission characteristics of radio frequency signals and spatial coupling (inductive or electromagnetic coupling) or radar reflection to achieve Automatic recognition of recognized objects.

The RFID read head communicates wirelessly with the RFID electronic tag through the antenna, which can read or write the tag identification code and memory data. A typical RFID read head includes an RFID radio frequency module (transmitter and receiver), a control unit, and a reader antenna.

Among them, electronic tags are also called radio frequency tags, transponders, and data carriers; readers are also called readout devices, scanners, communicators, and readers (depending on whether the electronic tags can rewrite data wirelessly). The electronic tag and the reader realize the spatial (contactless) coupling of the radio frequency signal through the coupling element. In the coupling channel, according to the timing relationship, energy transmission and data exchange are realized.

There are two types of RF signal coupling that occur between the reader and the electronic tag.

(1) Inductive coupling. The transformer model is coupled by a high-frequency alternating magnetic field in space, based on the law of electromagnetic induction.

(2) Electromagnetic backscatter coupling: The principle model of radar. The emitted electromagnetic waves reflect when they hit the target and carry back the target information at the same time, based on the spatial propagation law of electromagnetic waves.
