What is a transformer and how to classify?

Last Update Time: 2019-01-09 13:35:40

1.Transformer is to transform the AC voltage, current and impedance of the device, when the primary winding through the AC current, the core ( or core ) will be generated in the intersection a flux that induces a voltage ( or current ) in the secondary winding. The transformer is made up of core ( or core ) and winding. The transformer is made of two or more sets of coils wound on the same coil skeleton or wound around the same core. If the coil is hollow, it becomes a hollow transformer. if the ferrite core is inserted in the coil, it is called ferrite core transformer. if the core is inserted in the coil, it is called the core transformer.

2.The classification of transformers.

1) Classified according to cooling mode: 1000 type (self cooled) transformer, oil immersed (self cooled) transformer, and fluoride (evaporative cooling) transformer.

2) Classified according to moistureproof mode: open type transformer, potting transformer and sealed transformer.

3) Classified according to core or coil structure: heart type transformer (insert core, C shaped core, ferrite core), shell type transformer (insert core, C shaped core, ferrite core), ring transformer, metal foil transformer.

4) According to the number of power supply phase: single-phase transformer, three-phase transformer and multi-phase transformer.

5) Classified by purpose: power transformers, voltage regulating transformers, audio transformers, intermediate frequency transformers, high frequency transformers and pulse transformers.
