Aluminum electrolytic capacitors, abbreviated as "Al-caps," are a class of capacitors with capacitance values ranging from a few picofarads to many thousands of microfarads. They are also known as electrolytic capacitors and based on the physical principles of electrolytic or liquid ion storage. In terms of internal structure, it usually consists of two metal films separated by a thin layer of electrolyte. An anode and a cathode are attached to the two films and together make up a single device. The 106CKS200M is a polarized aluminum electrolytic capacitor that works in a broad range of applications including high-frequency and high-power circuits.

The 106CKS200M is different from conventional aluminum electrolytic capacitors due to its double-sleeve structure. At its core, this structure consists of an inner metal sleeve and an outer sleeve which are separated by an electrolyte. The metal sleeve forms an electrical connection between the two electrodes, while the electrolyte forms the dielectric medium required for capacitance. This structure gives the 106CKS200M much better performance in terms of voltage, surge resistance, and ripple current. Due to its advantages, the 106CKS200M is increasingly preferred in power rectifier circuits, DC to DC converters, and high-speed circuits.

The 106CKS200M works on the principle of electrolytic capacitance, which is based on the fact that certain liquids (electrolytes) can store electrical charge in the form of ions. This occurs in two stages. Firstly, when a voltage is applied to the two metal electrodes, electrical current flows, resulting in the migration of ions from the anode to the cathode. These ions attach themselves to the metal surfaces and remain there until the voltage is removed. Secondly, when the voltage is reversed, the ions are unable to move and remain attached to the anode or cathode respectively. This phenomenon thus forms a charge barrier between the two electrodes and thereby results in capacitance.
