Aluminum electrolytic capacitors (also known as electrolytic capacitors, electro capacitors, elcaps, or just electrolytics ) are capacitors which use an electrolyte, usually an organic solvent like Ethanol or Glycol, along with an aluminum oxide anode and a cathode made of an aluminum or conductive polymer conductor. Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are polarized capacitors and come in both radial and axial packages. These capacitors are commonly used in a variety of electrical and electronic applications, including power supplies, audio amplifiers, instrument amplifiers, motors, sound systems, and test equipment.
