An electrolytic capacitor consists of two extremely thin aluminum foils and a paper layer, impregnated with liquid electrolyte. In addition, a layer of oxide is created on one of the aluminum foil surfaces for insulation. The 158TTA050M is an aluminum electrolytic capacitor. The cathode-side features a special paper that soaks in the electrolyte, which is an acidic solution of aluminum hydroxide. The outer shell is typically made of metal, plastic, or ceramic.
