Aluminum electrolytic capacitors, abbreviated as AECs, are passive electronic components. They are composed of two electrodes, an electrolyte and a solid dielectric. AECs are used mainly in power electronics to reduce the ripple and noise in power supplies, particularly AC systems where repetitive voltage changes take place quickly. They are also commonly used in audio applications such as in radios and amplifiers.
