Working Principle
The 1N4970 is designed to provide voltage regulation by zener breakdown when a specified voltage is reached. When the diode is forward biased, the electrons in the conduction band of the diode have enough energy to overcome the potential barrier and move across to the p-type semiconductor material, creating a current flow.
