Gas Discharge Tube Arresters (GDT)

Gas Discharge Tube, more commonly known as GDT, is an electronic component that have been on the market since the 1950s. It is used to protect electric equipment from spikes in voltage or power surges and lightning strikes. When the voltage plug surpasses the insulation limit, the insulation will accumulates the arc still producing a spark gap. Finally, when the voltage again falls below the insulation limit, the arc extinction occurs and the surge and its associated destructive energy is removed from the system.
