Gas Discharge Tube Arresters (GDT) are used in many applications to protect power equipment and other delicate electronic devices from lightning-induced surges. GDTs work by providing a path for the overvoltage current to flow, but in a way that prevents the destructive high voltage pulse from propagating into the protected device.
