Working Principle

The 24C02CT-E/SN is based on the I2C two wire serial interface. The device uses clock and data signals (SDA and SCL) to transfer address, data and control information between the device and a host controller. The communication between the device and the host controller is always initiated by the host controller. The device can support up to 16 different master/slave addresses. The device is slave selectable and it supports both master and slave protocols. When the device is addressed by a master, it will automatically acknowledge and transfer data bytes depending on the requested operation (read or write).The device supports read and write operations. In the read operation, the device will receive the address bytes and acknowledge the reception of the address. After this, the device will send out the data which is stored in the address location.The write operation is similar to the read operation, but in this case, the device will receive the address bytes and the data bytes. The device will acknowledge the address and then it will write the data to the address location. After the data is written, the device will again acknowledge the write operation.
