Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors – 338CKE016M – are part of a family of capacitors distinguished by creating a large capacitance per unit volume. Using two aluminum foils with an ion-permeable membrane acting as the dielectric, these capacitors offer extremely high capacitance in a relatively small package.

Working Principle

The working of Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors derives from Faraday\'s Law of Capacitance. This law states that the capacitance of a parallel plate capacitor is proportional to the area of the plates and inversely proportional to their distance. This means that for a constant area; capacitance is determined by the distance between the plates. The 338CKE016M capacitors comes equipped with two tantalum foil layers for positive and negative terminals with a highly permeable insulator in between.

The electrical field created between the two aluminum layers initiates a flow of current which is then blocked by the ion-permeable membrane. This ion-filled membrane is kept in our Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors by a sealant wax or a pressure release vent. It must also be ensured that the membrane remains sealed and uncontaminated to prevent a short circuit between the two plates.
