35.360 is a kind of communication protocol developed for transmission over satellite systems which helps in handling up to 4,000 individual voice channels simultaneously. It is based on a frequency-hopping technique that uses the 35.360 MHz radio band in a frequency-hopping spread spectrum communication system. The term terrestrial-digital-satellite (TD-SAT) is adopted to describe the overall system.

The application of 35.360 in the current day and age is mainly focused on the transmission of satellite data by governmental, civil and commercial organizations to enable communication between land, sea, and air. It is used by government, civil and commercial organizations for the transmission of data on high-speed satellite-based communication systems. The protocol can be used for multiple applications that include voice and data communications, remote sensing, telemetry, television broadcasts and other applications.

35.360 works by using the 35.360 MHz radio band which is divided into multiple frequency-hopping channels that are transmitted as one frequency-hopped block. Each frequency-hopped channel is modulated independently and spread over the radio band using a frequency-hopping code that is used to signal the transmitter and receiver. As each frequency-hopped channel modulates independently, it is possible to transmit a large amount of data in a short period of time, making this an efficient protocol for transmitting large amounts of data. Data is transmitted using either an amplitude modulation or a phase modulation technique.

Since 35.360 is a frequency-hopping spread-spectrum protocol, it is designed to make use of the inherent features of this signal type, such as resistance to interference, robustness and high transmission efficiency. The protocol is very resilient to jamming and interference due to its frequency hopping technique and the fact that only a single frequency-hopped block is transmitted at any given time. The data rate of the system can be as high as 30 Mbps, enabling a wide variety of applications.

35.360 is one of the most widely used protocols for the transmission of satellite data and has been used for a variety of applications, such as satellite communication, remote sensing, telemetry, television broadcasting and more.
