Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are a type of capacitors which uses aluminum foil covered with an oxide and an electrolyte to form the two separated plates of a capacitor. These capacitors are the most common and cheapest type of capacitor used in most everyday electronic devices.

The 35RX303300M18X35.5 is an aluminum electrolytic capacitor with a rated voltage of 35V and a capacitance value of 300 μF. It is an 18mm diameter capacitor and has a maximum operating temperature of 105 °C. The 35RX303300M18X35.5 is designed for use in general power supply filtering, voltage-stabilizing circuits, DC-DC converters, AC-DC power supplies, EMI, and lighting equipment.

The working principle of an aluminum electrolytic capacitor is based on the physical separation of two thin layers of conducting material. The two conducting layers are formed by a thin layer of an electrolyte which acts as an insulator, and an aluminum foil as the other conducting layer. The oxide layer on the aluminum foil serves as the dielectric layer. When a potential difference is applied across the two layers of conducting material, the electrical charge in the electrolyte layer separates, creating an electric field between the two layers. When the charge on either side of the capacitor is equal, the electric field disappears and the capacitor is said to be at rest.

When an AC voltage is applied, the charge on the capacitor side of the electric field increases or decreases at a rate proportional to the frequency of the alternating current. When the AC frequency changes, the amount of charge stored on either side of the capacitor also changes. The capacitor is able to store the charge, which is then available to be used by the circuit.

Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are ideal for use in applications requiring high capacitance, good ripple current capabilities, and high voltage ratings. They are also well-suited for use in power supplies, DC-DC converters, voltage-stabilizing circuits, and EMI/lightning protection.
