The 74HC93N,112 is a high-speed 4-bit binary counter featuring individual clock (nCP0..3) and reset (nRST) inputs. It is designed to be used in digital systems that require high frequency counting capability, such as frequency measurement and sample-and-hold circuits. To provide minimum propagation delays, these circuits are constructed primarily of Schottky transistors.

In the 74HC93N,112, all the flip-flops that are connected in cascade will divide the incoming clock frequency by two. The modulus is the total number of states that can count before going back to the original state. In other words, the maximum number of incrementing steps of this scheme is 2n, where n is the number of output stages of the counter. If the clear input (nCLR) is in logic “high”, then the counter is reset.

The IC is powered with power supply voltage, VDD, ranging from 2.4V to 6V. It has wide-bandwidth Schottky transistors and Schottky diodes that allow it to operate at very high frequency with very low power and low-voltage supply. Its package type is SOP-16, thereby giving it more surface mounting availability and convenience. In addition, it has an operating temperature range of -55°C to 125°C and an operating frequency of 125 MHz.
