The 93C86C/W15K is a low cost, 1,048,576 bit, serial electrically erasable semiconductor memory. It is organized in 512K addresses of 16 bits each and uses a two-wire Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) suitable for microcontroller, microprocessor and digital signal controller applications. This memory has a sequential and page write that allows up to 32 locations to be written at once. 

The 93C86C/W15K is a versatile memory and can be used for multiple types of applications including data storage and communications, automotive, and consumer goods. In data storage and communications, the 93C86C/W15K is used for encryption, communication protocols and data logger applications. In automotive applications, the 93C86C/W15K is used for airbag activation systems and keyless entry modules. Finally, in consumer goods, the 93C86C/W15K is used for game and toy applications. 

The 93C86C/W15K operates in both SPI and I2C modes and is a low powered device with maximum operating current from the Vcc supply of 15mA. When the write protection is enabled, data is prevented from being written to or erased from the memory or a particular memory location.

The 93C86C/W15K also offers an auto-address increment feature which is used to increase the speed of data transmission. This feature is enabled via the WE pin and consists of the internal address counter which is incremented each time a byte of data is transferred. This means that the user does not have to keep track of the current address and write data at the right address.
