AD598JR Application Field and Working Principle
The AD598JR is a fully integrated, linearized, single supply, monolithic temperature sensor from Analog Devices. This device transmits accurate temperature readings from -50°C to 125°C, over a wide range of voltage variations. Designed for easy implementation, the integrated circuitry within the AD598JR actively compensates for any offset and temperature errors. Its output temperature range extends from -30°C to 85°C.The AD598JR makes use of an integrated semiconductor grade thermistor (SGT) to sense the local temperature. The SGT captures a range of temperatures from -50°C to 125°C, with an accuracy of ±0.5°C, and is calibrated over this entire range as per customer specifications. The thermistor is supported by a self heating system that counteracts any temperature variations, ensuring more stable readings.The AD598JR can be used in a variety of applications including medical, automotive, industrial and consumer products. It can be applied to measure temperature in HVAC applications, process controls in power systems, painting booths, and any other system that requires temperature measurements.The AD598JR works in combination with the temperature to voltage (TVR) converter, which has been specifically designed to offer outstanding performance in conjunction with the SGT. The TVR converter is a high voltage, high gain, chopper stable amplifier that is designed for low noise, low power operation in the range of 0 to 125°C. It provides a unity gain from its output to the linearized output signal side of the device, and provides a low-noise output signal, whether it is a voltage or a current.The integrated temperature sensor in the AD598JR is a thermistor, which is basically a carbon element surrounded by a ceramic material. A thermistor can be used to \ measure temperature changes by changing its resistance when exposed to temperature. When a current is passed through a thermistor, the resistance varies with its temperature, producing a voltage across it. This voltage is proportional to the temperature of the thermistor. The TVR converter amplifies this voltage to form a linearized output signal of 0 to 5 V where 1 V typically corresponds to an input temperature of 25°C.The AD598JR is also equipped with a reversible mounting mechanism which ensures that the electron flow is reversed when twisted during installation. This ensures that the correct polarity is represented to reduce any variability and provide accurate temperature readings.Overall, the AD598JR is an ideal temperature measuring device for any application that requires accurate temperature measurements.
