AD7952BCPZRL Application Field and Working PrincipleData Acquisition - Analog to Digital Converters (ADC) has wide application fields, such as automotive, industrial, communication, home appliance, battery- powered and medical etc. The AD7952BCPZRL is a 4-Channel, 10-Bit, 1.8V I2C Digital to Analog Converter intended to be used in embedded systems requiring accurate and low power analog-to-digital conversion.The AD7952BCPZRL converts digital signals into analog signals and can be used to measure distance, movement, temperature and other signals. Each of the four channels has an independent fast 10-bit, switch capacitor ADC and can work simultaneously. Differential nonlinearity (DNL) is kept within ±1 LSB to ensure the accuracy of AD. The AD7952BCPZRL has an ultra-low one-time programming time, which can set different control bits and settings. The power of the device is only 1.7 mW in the entire operating range, which can extend battery life and reduce system cost.As a 10-bit resolution converter, the AD7952BCPZRL achieves 10-bit accuracy under the condition of input amplitude range 0V ~ 1.8V. The 0V refer to the ground, and the maximum input voltage must be equal to the reference voltage and must not exceed the power supply voltage.In terms of working principle, the computer reads the input analog signal from the outside world, such as temperature, pressure or other information, and after the AD conversion realized by the chip, the digital signal is obtained, which is processed into corresponding digital information in the form of 0 or 1 and transmitted to the CPU. The CPU then uses the received data to perform various algorithms, digital signal processing and interface communication data processing to obtain the actual measured value.The AD7952BCPZRL operates over a wide temperature range of -40℃~+125℃. The device features an easy-to-use RS232 compatible, 4-wire serial interface, which supports I2C, SMBus and SPI compatible serial interfaces. The part also has many power saving functions, such as wake-up from power down state and a power save bit that controls the analog input current.The AD7952BCPZRL uses external low power crystal for operation, which can better reduce power consumption, reduce external component count, and simplify system design. The external clock frequency can range from 0.7 kHz to 2 MHz.The AD7952BCPZRL also integrates an on-chip temperature sensor that can measure temperature over a range of 0°C to +150°C with a resolution of 0.0625°C. This 8-bit temperature sensor can measure any gradation changes in temperature in the environment, humidity, wind speed and airflow, and is helpful in controlling the environment and in reacting to changes in the environment.In addition, the device has an operating mode and a power-saving register that allow it to automatically enter/exit power-down mode, which can save more power by shutting down the analog input channels.The AD7952BCPZRL is provided in a thin (1.2mm) 6’ x 6’ 24 Ld LFCSP package and is supported by both the I2C and SPI digital interfaces. This part is recommended for variety of space saving applications.The AD7952BCPZRL further reduces system cost and complexity by providing a complete integrated solution for an analog interface at the ADC level. This part provides a total integrated solution from sensor/actuator to a digital interface eliminating the need for additional support components. In addition, by using the same architecture across a wide range of channels, the AD7952BCPZRL can provide a highly integrated and low cost solution for applications with medium resolution requirements.
