ADM00768 is an evaluation board for sensors that combines the Analog Devices Inc. (ADI) ADXL345 three-axis digital accelerometer together with several other components. Working Principle
The working principle of the ADM00768 evaluation board begins with the ADXL345 which collects data from an external stimulus such as a user’s finger tapping or a mechanical action. The data is relayed to the analog signal-conditioning circuitry which has an amplifier and a low-pass filter for noise cancellation. The filtered signal is further manipulated by nearby operational amplifiers (OPAMPs) to change the converter signal gain and eliminate offset-voltage errors. The OPAmp’s output is then further manipulated by a 6-bit analog-to-digital converter and then stored in a 4kbit serial EEPROM.
The evaluation board also includes several additional components such as a microcontroller, a temperature sensor, and digital switches. The EEPROM is used to store non-volatile parameters such as device settings, measurement data, and calibration information. The microcontroller is responsible for processing the digitally encoded data from the analog converter and the EEPROM. Lastly, the temperature sensor is used to facilitate temperature compensation of the measurements.
The ADM00768 evaluation board also enables the user to communicate with it using various protocols such as USB, I2C, and SPI.
