Working Principle

The ADM1816-5ARTZ-REEL operates on a monitoring circuit wherein it is connected to the system’s power supply lines. When the power supply falls below the adjustable reset threshold, the ADM1816-5ARTZ-REEL asserts the reset output and holds it low until the power supply voltage exceeds the reset threshold value. The reset output can be asserted manually by an optional external signal.

The reset output will remain active until the power supply voltage exceeds the reset threshold level, after which the reset output will remain active according to the delay time specified. The delay time is programmable via external resistors and can be selected from 200ms, 300ms, 500ms, and 1s.

The ADM1816-5ARTZ-REEL is designed with a watchdog timer circuit which is triggered by an external signal of 1kHz @ 1V or greater. This triggers an internal reset output after the programmed delay time has elapsed, and the reset output will remain low until the power supply voltage level exceeds the reset threshold value and the timer period elapses.
