ADM690AARMZ-REELADM690AARMZ-REEL, categorised as Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC) supervises, is an advanced microcontroller supervisory circuit with integrated voltage comparators and reset. This helps to ensure reliable system operation as it monitors voltages on both the power supply and battery for absolute levels.ADM690AARMZ-REEL is widely used in applications such as power supply monitoring, system supervision, fault detection, battery monitoring and portable electronic devices. This additional layer of protection ensures that the system supply can recover quickly and accurately after power loss while the system is running. Efficient voltage supervising is the key intention of ADM690AARMZ-REEL. It consists of several output pins, such as manual reset (MR) pin, active low reset (RST N) pin and programmable undervoltage lockout (UVLO) pin. To begin working, ADM690AARMZ-REEL derives VDD from the system power supply. This power supply can be between 2.4V to 5.5V and is connected to the MR pin by a capacitor. Additionally, a capacitor must be connected between the MR pin and VDD in order to eliminate any initially present momentary glitch. By connecting a low resistance condenser between VDD and ground, ADM690AARMZ-REEL can achieve a slow decay time of oscillation.Additionally, AC coupling is used between the undervoltage input (UVLO) pin and the output pin (RST). A capacitor is connected between the UVLO pin and the RST pin, with a low impedance resistor connected in parallel for the range of input levels.The Dual Composite comparator of ADM690AARMZ-REEL forms the nucleus of its operating behaviour. This comparator consists of two composite sampling comparators, A/D and D/A. The A/D comparator circuitry compares the voltage across the external resistor to the signal source generated internally. The D/A comparator circuitry detects if the signal source has become greater than the external resistor value. On comparison, if the signal is greater, the signal is tripped, producing a reset pulse.The internal signal source is developed by a bandgap reference. The voltage variation is controlled by the ADC converter, allowing the setting of the precision that is desired. The signal is compared with the resistive reference voltage.The internal capacitor in ADM690AARMZ-REEL is also key to its functionality. It helps to reduce the overshoot of the voltage. Within the ADM690AARMZ-REEL, there is a variable internal resistance, which helps to keep the capacitor charged. This ensures that the voltage is stable when the power is removed.Finally, the integrated Supervisor Watchdog Timer (SWT) in ADM690AARMZ-REEL allows the product to enter a system management mode. In this mode, the SWT will periodically reset the system when the processor fails to produce an output within a predetermined time period.
