The ADM809RART-REEL is a high-performance Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC) supervisory device manufactured by Analog Devices, Inc. The device belongs to the Supervisors family of PMIC products and provides a low-cost solution for circuit and system power design.
The ADM809RART-REEL supervisor consists of a voltage detector, an internal voltage reference, an internal voltage regulator, an internal reset signal generator and an open drain output. It can be used to monitor the power supply voltages in applications such as microprocessor systems, embedded systems, logic circuits and peripheral systems.
This device monitors the input voltage to the system and asserts a reset signal when the supply voltage level drops below the trip point (VPVC) for a predetermined period of time. The device contains a watchdog timer that initiates a reset when the voltage remains below the trip point for a predetermined duration of time.
The reset signal generated by the ADM809RART-REEL can be sent directly to the power supply or system controller to initiate a reset of the embedded system or to the microprocessor or system bus to initiate a reset of the microprocessor. In addition, an open-drain output signal is provided for external reset signal using an external pull-up resistor.
The ADM809RART-REEL is designed to operate on a wide 5.5V to 15V input voltage range and has an adjustable VPVC trip point that is set at a default value of 4.35V. It is available in an 8-lead SOIC package. The advanced design of the ADM809RART-REEL supervisor ensures that its performance is reliable, predictable and repeatable.
The device is ideal for low power applications that require the monitoring of system voltages. It is designed to provide a cost effectiveness solution with a minimum number of components. The device incorporates a number of features such as reset signal filter, reset signal delay and an anti-glitch filter. The reset signal filter prevents spurious reset signals from occurring due to noise spikes and glitches on the power supply. It also provides an adjustable reset signal delay which allows the user to set the duration of the delay before the reset signal is asserted.
