This control circuit consists of a differential amplifier and a pair of P-channel and N-channel MOSFETs, both of which are necessary for a linear regulator to work. The amplifier works like a comparator, comparing the input voltage and the output voltage. If it finds a difference between the two, then it will turn on or off the P-channel and N-channel switches.
If the input voltage is lower than the output voltage, then the P-channel MOSFET will be shut off and the N-channel will be turned on, allowing the current to flow from the input pin to the output pin, thus maintaining the desired output voltage. The current passing through the differential amplifier is used to control the duty cycle of the P-channel and N-channel MOSFETs. This will cause the output voltage to be regulated automatically.
