AP7333-18SRG-7 is a low quiescent current voltage regulator that is designed to output 1.8V with high accuracy over a wide temperature range. It is a 3.3V input, 18mA output linear voltage regulator from Diodes Incorporated. Offered in SOT-23-5 package, this linear voltage regulator also features an optimum combination of low dropout voltage (1.15V @ 18mA) and very low quiescent current (13µA).

Working Principle

AP7333-18SRG-7 is a low quiescent current linear voltage regulator that operates by controlling the open-loop gain of an internal PNP power transistor to maintain a stable output voltage. The input voltage is set above the output voltage to maintain a voltage drop across the PNP power transistor. The output voltage is then accurately regulated by an internal bandgap reference with an error amplifier. Since the device relies on the control loop to regulate the output voltage and the current to regulate the output voltage, the device consumes very little current when the output voltage is regulated and the current is low.

The AP7333-18SRG-7 includes foldback current limiting for enhanced protection against excessive load current in the event of a fault. The foldback current limiting function helps prevent excessive dissipated power in the event of an output overload. In addition, the device has over-temperature protection that limits the maximum junction temperature. The device also includes under-voltage lockout, which shuts down the device if the input voltage drops below a predetermined level.
