AT29C512-70JI is a member of a family of 16K 5V-only CMOS EPROMs, which conbine 16384 bytes of ultra high endurance memory. It offers a choice of either Clock controlled Partitioning or a software controlled 4K x 8 organization.

The AT29C512-70JI is ideally suited for the permanent storage of software for the processor based products. With easy to use programming and verification, it is the ideal device for applications where multiple updates are to be performed.

Application Field:

The AT29C512-70JI can be used in a variety of applications, including: microprocessors, consumer electronics, medical equipment, disks, robotics and power supplies. It is particularly suited for applications where code protection and rapid updates are desired. Data integrity is maintained by the use of the advanced ECC circuit.

Working Principle:

The AT29C512-70JI EPROM is organized into 4K by 8bit pages. It utilizes a 16bit multiplexed address and data bus structure and provides an internal state machine that automatically generates all timing signals, as well as data strobes and control signals. Data from the AT29C512-70JI is latched-in on the rising edge of the WE (Write Enable) pulse. The device utilizes a clock controlled partioning scheme, which allows the EPROM to be reorganized into two 8K x 8 parts for read/write access. The WE pulse is the only non-multiplexed control signal.

The AT29C512-70JI has four modes of operation: Write (Programming), Read, Program Verify (or Erase Verify) and Access. The Programming mode allows data to be written into the EPROM. The Read mode allows data to be read from the EPROM. The Program Verify or Erase Verify mode allows the designer to verify the contents of the EPROM and the Access mode is used to select the correct page.

The AT29C512-70JI is designed and built using advanced CMOS technology, resulting in very low system power consumption. It is capable of operating from a single 5V voltage supply. The device is also available in a few packages, including SOIC, DIP, and TSOP.

The AT29C512-70JI offers fast access times of 70ns and lower standby current consumption, making it a very attractive solution for high performance application.
