Evaluation and Demonstration Boards and KitsThe ATA6625-EK evaluation kit is a comprehensive development platform for AT-Commander applications. Designed by Atmel, this circuit board allows Atmel customers to rapidly evaluate and design with the Atmel AT-Commander serial peripheral interface (SPI) series, and then move to production with minimal design experimentation. The kit uses a Surface Mount Technology (SMT) board which is mounted on a 3.5-inch x 3.5-inch supporting board with onboard power, ground, LEDs, and a reset button. The ATA6625-EK development board includes an associated software package which provides firmware source code, BSP, API and reference manual.
The Atmel ATA6625-EK evaluation kit is ideal for the development of Atmel AT-Commander series applications in both industrial and consumer products. This development board allows developers to test and debug their own code, and then move to a production-ready platform in a minimum amount of time. The ATA6625-EK is a great platform to assess and optimize the performance of Atmel\'s AT-Commander series interface components.
The ATA6625-EK evaluation board has three different working modes which include polling, interrupt and DMA. In the polling mode, the microprocessor can use a software loop to check whether any commands have been received and then execute them accordingly. In the interrupt mode, an interrupt is generated when a command is received, and the microprocessor can immediately start executing the command. In the DMA mode, the microprocessor is able to directly transfer data from the Atmel AT-Commander series components without the intervention of the polling loop. This helps reduce microprocessor overhead, and increases the performance of the application.
The ATA6625-EK evaluation board also integrates a series of interfaces including On-Chip Debug Interface (OCDI), Jtag, and UART to support debug and trace options. The OCDI, combined with the Atmel debug enable port, provides features such as program breakpoints, cycles and bus trace monitoring. The JTAG interface can be used to program and debug the application code running on the microprocessor. The UART interface is an ideal communication interface to send serial data from the platform to an external terminal or to a computer.
The ATA6625-EK evaluation kit also features an integrated power supply which provides 3.3V and 5V to the hardware. This allows developers to easily connect external devices without worrying about the power requirements. The board is also designed with an onboard oscillator to provide a 48-MHz signal. The connection pads are convenient for connecting external passive components such as resistors, thermistors, photodiodes, etc.
