The BAV20WTR is a single, fast-recovery, schottky bridge rectifier. It operates by allowing current to flow in only one direction, while blocking the flow in the opposite direction. This is achieved by using the Schottky diode, which is well known for its low forward-voltage drop and fast switching speed. The BAV40WTR features a reverse voltage of 20 volts, a forward voltage drop of 0.5 volts, a maximum forward current of 1.5 amps and a maximum reverse current of 100 uA.

The BAV20WTR is constructed with a single die, which comprises of four diodes connected in a bridge configuration. When the input voltage is applied to the input terminals, the diodes will allow current to flow in only one direction and will block it in the opposite direction. This is what allows the rectification to occur.

When the output voltage is removed from the output terminals, the diodes quickly transition from a “on” state to an “off” state, allowing the current to transition from a “forward” to a “reverse” state. This transition is known as fast recovery and allows for improved power density and efficiency.
