Working Principle

These two layers are known as the anode and cathode.

In the forward bias mode, the anode is at the negative voltage compared to the cathode. This current flow in the forward bias mode flows from the anode to the cathode.

In this condition, the voltage applied to the diode is greater than the breakdown voltage, causing the electric field between the two layers to become so large that current would be broken down.
