The BD9006F-E2 is a non-synchronous step down DC-DC converter that is ideally suited for high current conversion applications up to 16V. It uses an adjustable internal voltage regulator and is suitable for both fixed and adjustable output voltages. It has a fast turn-on and recovery time, low quiescent current, fast current loop response time, excellent line and load regulation, and low ripple and noise. In addition, it features low RDS(ON), low EMI, programmable current limit and thermal shutdown protection for output over current, over temperature, over voltage and under voltage conditions.

The BD9006F-E2 is designed for a wide range of applications, such as low voltage distributed power supply systems, power adapters, CNCs, automotive and industrial applications. It is capable of delivering up to 16A of output current with a maximum power of up to 300W. It is suitable for input voltage range from 8V to 36V and the output voltage range from 0.8V to 5.5V.

The BD9006F-E2’s non-synchronous buck topology circuit consists of an internal high-side power MOSFET and an external low-side power MOSFET in a fold-back constant-dimension circuit. The internal voltage regulator includes an accurate 2.5V reference voltage, temperature compensation, a low-noise signal amplifier, PWM control, and output current and voltage sensors. This combination of features ensures accurate current and voltage regulation, even at the most demanding load conditions.

The working principle of the BD9006F-E2 is simple. An input signal is sent from the PWM controller to the external power MOSFET. The signal is amplified by the signal amplifier and then sent to the high-side MOSFET. The two power MOSFETs operate as switches, turning on and off alternately depending on the PWM signal. The frequency of the PWM signal is determined by the input voltage and the output voltage, and it depends on the gate capacitance and the switching frequency of the MOSFET. When the high-side MOSFET is on, the input voltage is applied to the output, and when it is off, the output voltage will drop slightly. The internal voltage regulator keeps the output voltage at a fixed level, ensuring accurate regulation of the output voltage.
