The BD9011KV-E2 is an adjustable DC/DC buck unit DC/DC switching controller integrated with power MOSFET. It is a wide input voltage range, high sensitivity current mode synchronous step down DC/DC controller. With its near-zero current shutdown and unique temperature compensation scheme, the BD9011KV-E2 provides accurate, high efficiency circuit performance and reliable operation. The BD9011KV-E2 is suitable for use in a range of portable and stationary applications including battery powered devices, mobile phones, and other embedded systems.
Application Field
The BD9011KV-E2 is designed for Synchronous step-down DC/DC converters for battery-powered handheld products such as smartphones, tablets, digital cameras and portable media players. It offers excellent load transient characteristics and high efficiency over a wide range of operating conditions. It has dedicated pin-out for Smartphone applications, such as battery protection and USB OTG (USB On The Go) detection.
Working Principle
The BD9011KV-E2 operates in current mode control and employs an adjustable frequency with auto skip mode. Non-synchronous skip mode improves light load efficiency by avoiding switching at lower duty cycles. During the auto skip mode operation duty cycle is limited to less than 50%. The BG910KV-E2 has fast on-time ramp up, allowing high noise margin in low duty cycle range. Additionally, low dropout voltage and low quiescent current in off mode helps extend battery life.
The BD9011KV-E2 is an adjustable frequency device, so the frequency is set internally according to the output voltage and peak switch currents. It provides an adjustable frequency range of 200-500kHz over a wide power range. A differential current sense input allows the device to accurately sense the output current. The device features internal soft start and soft stop ramping of the switching frequency, preventing overcurrent and excessive output voltage ringing during start up and shutdown.
The BD9011KV-E2 also features various protection functions to ensure safe device operation. It has built-in overcurrent protection, feed-forward overvoltage protection, and over temperature shutdown protection. The built-in low dropout regulator further allows for low current regulation when the input voltage is several hundred mV below the output voltage.
The BD9011KV-E2 integrates advanced control and protection circuitry, allowing an efficient and reliable design. Its great combination of features, combined with its flexibility and ease of use, makes it an ideal choice for a wide range of applications.
