Thyristors, otherwise known as Silicon-Controlled Rectifiers (SCRs), are considered today as important semiconductor components as they have the capability to control high power levels with a very low amount of electrical power.

The BT168E112, a type of SCR, is a four-pin device composed of an anode, cathode, gate, and control. It is a four-quadrant device, meaning it can be operated in both directions, and is mainly used in applications such as Uni-directional and Bidirectional, half-wave and full-wave controls, phase control as well as motor speed control.

The application field of a BT168E112 SCR consists mainly of three components.
