BY229B-800-E3/81 is a single-channel rectifier diode. It is designed for use in high-power, reverse-voltage and high-temperature applications like automotive and commercial vehicles and other electrical systems. The diode can be used for industrial, scientific and medical applications such as switchgear, power supplies, solar power systems and lighting systems.The diode is composed of a polysilicon metal oxide semiconductor (PMOS) and has a breakdown voltage rating of 800 V, a peak inverse voltage (PIV) of 800 V, a junction temperature range of -55°C and 125°C, and a maximum operating temperature of 175°C. It has a peak repetitive forward current (IFRM) rating of 8A, a storage temperature rating of -60°C and 150°C, and a maximum reverse voltage rating of 600 V.The single-channel diode is available in two standard packages: a through-hole package and a surface-mount package. It has an array of terminals, including source, drain, gate and collector. The source terminal is connected to the positive side of the power supply, while the drain terminal is connected to the negative side of the power supply. The gate and collector terminals provide control and protection against excessive current.The diode is widely used in applications that require protection from over-voltage, reverse-bias or high temperature. The diode protects the electrical system from power spikes and offers excellent surge-protection for sensitive electronic components. Its low-dropout voltage and effective reverse-blocking voltage provide reliable over-voltage protection.The diode works by allowing current to flow in only one direction, as it acts as a barrier for current going in the reverse direction.
