BZT03C240-TR Working Principle

The BZT03C240-TR is designed to reduce the voltage on the gate and junction together when there is a surge or over current situation. It works using two components: a passivation layer and a voltage breakdown junction.

The passivation layer is an insulating layer that covers the gate and junction. It helps to reduce the capacitance of the junction, which in turn reduces the voltage applied at the junction, thus reducing the drain current and protecting the junction from overheating and damage.

The second component, the voltage breakdown junction, is located between the junction and the gate. It consists of two diodes connected in series with an anode pointing towards the gate and a cathode connected to the junction. This junction then blocks any excessive current from flowing through the junction, thus limiting the voltage and current from going beyond the specified values.

The BZT03C240-TR is designed to work in both environment and temperature conditions. Its operating temperature range is -40°C to +125°C. It can also withstand voltage transients up to 40V and has a peak power dissipation of 1.5 watts.
