TVS – Diodes are used in many cases to safeguard electrical circuits and protect components from high-voltage surges due to lightning, electrostatic discharge, and other transient overvoltage events. The BZT03C27-TAP is a general purpose diode specially designed to protect multiple applications against transient high voltage power surges. The BZT03C27-TAP is manufactured using advanced ultra-low capacitance (ULCAP) Silicon epitaxial technology.

The BZT03C27-TAP has a breakdown voltage of 27 volts and is intended for automotive, industrial, and outdoor power application. It offers excellent resistance to wide variety of transients and fast response time. The device can safely absorb high surge currents up to 3.5A (8/20 us) operating at a working voltage up to 30V. The working temperature range of the BZT03C27-TAP is -40°C to + 125°C.

When a voltage above the breakdown voltage of the diode is applied across its terminals, it conducts the current flowing through it from anode to cathode and redirects it to a low impedance path safely away from the internal components. This low impedance path needs to be connected to a ground to ensure safe dissipation of the surge current. The BZT03C27-TAP has an integrated reverse-diode protection, ensuring reverse biasing and overvoltage protection.

The BZT03C27-TAP includes many features to reduce component and mounting costs, making it an ideal choice for the primary protection of automotive, industrial, and outdoor power applications. It also has very low positive temperature coefficient (PTC) behavior to ensure excellent protection. The diode has very low current leakage and can easily be used in low current applications.
