Working Principle
BZT52C36-7 works on the principle that when a voltage is applied to a p-n junction, a small amount of current will flow that causes a minute drop in the voltage across the junction. This voltage drop will always remain the same no matter how much current is drawn from the diode, as long as it does not exceed the diode\'s maximum current rating. This small voltage drop which is measured in volts is called the Zener voltage. BZT52C36-7 operates at a Zener voltage of 3.6 V.

As the voltage increases, an avalanche effect takes place, thereby causing a massive increase in the current flow.
