Thyristors – SCRs are semiconductor switch components that have three terminals: an anode, a cathode, and a gate. C391M is a type of silicon thyristor switch that is used in various applications where switching at high frequencies is involved. Application Field

Working Principle

The C391M is designed to have three terminals: An Anode (A) terminal which connects to the source voltage, a cathode (K) terminal which connects to the load-side voltage and the gate (G) terminal, which is used to control the switching. The C391M has a reverse voltage blocking capability, which means it can block the flow of current in the reverse direction.

When the trigger voltage is applied to the gate (G) terminal, the gate current is diverted away from the Anode (A) terminal. This reduces the voltage at the gate terminal, while the same time increasing the voltage at the cathode (K) terminal, thus allowing electrical current to flow through the C391M. The applied trigger voltage can be AC or DC, and the C391M is able to switch on the current quickly and reliably.

When the trigger voltage is removed, the gate current goes back to its original flow, thus blocking the current from flowing from the cathode to the anode. In essence, the C391M acts like an electronically controlled switch, with the gate terminal acting as the switch, and the anode and cathode terminals acting as the input and output, respectively.

The C391M is able to handle switching at high frequencies and is also able to withstand short-duration surges. It is also capable of withstanding high-temperature environments and is able to perform reliably in temperature-sensitive applications. The C391M is also available in a variety of packages, allowing it to fit various application environments.
