Application Field and Working Principle

CDLL4371A is a zener diode which is designed for applications like regulating voltage and providing a reference for controlling current in electronic circuits. It is a bidirectional diode with a breakdown voltage of 15V, and can operate over a wide range of temperatures from –55°C to 150°C.

CDLL4371A is used in a variety of applications, ranging from analog voltage regulation, solar cell protection, level shifting and AC/DC power conversion. Additionally, it can be used in overvoltage protection circuits, surge protection circuits, battery charging and equally beneficial in low power circuits. Due to its low forward voltage of 0.5V, it is also suitable for low voltage applications.

The working principle of the CDLL4371A diode is based on an arrangement of p-n junction. When forward biased, minority carriers will migrate from the N-type region to the P-Type region, thus resulting in the flow of current through the diode. The diode operates in the reverse biased mode when the voltage across the diode surpasses the zener breakdown voltage. Under this condition, avalanche breakdown occurs, which results in a flow of current in the reverse direction.

The CDLL4371A diode is designed using advanced process technology and MOS-CAT high voltage diodes. The low leakage current, wide temperature range and low forward voltage make it an ideal choice for linear and switching mode applications. It is available in standard SOD523, SOD723, SOT23 and SOT723 packaging.
