Working Principle

The working principle of the CDLL4746 is based on the characteristics of the PN junction. The anode and cathode are connected in a circuit and when a voltage is applied to the junction, electrons from the n-type semiconductor are attracted to the P-type semiconductor. This attraction leads to the creation of a potential barrier, known as the Barrier Potential, across the junction. This Barrier Potential creates a region where current flow is blocked and the junction is said to be reverse biased. If a large enough voltage is applied to the junction it is possible that the barrier potential can be broken down, and this is called the Breakdown Voltage. When the breakdown voltage is reached a high current starts to flow through the junction, while maintaining a low voltage drop. This process is called Zener breakdown and it is used to regulate the voltage across a circuit.

CDLL4746 has a wide range of application in various circuits. It can be used to create a voltage reference for circuits like regulators, stabilizers, wave shaping and oscillation circuits for RF circuit design and power supply design. Its breakdown voltage reduces with an increase in temperature and it also offers high accuracy and excellent thermal stability.
