This ionization process causes an electric arc to form, leading to the creation of an electric delivery loop, which diverts the energy away from the protected equipment, thus providing the necessary protection.When the voltage drops below the breakdown voltage, the arc is extinguished and the GDT is ready to block the next surge event. The CG2250L has a higher arc extinction voltage than most other standard GDTs, making it more suitable for electrical power systems in lightning prone areas.The CG2250L also features a self-cleaning arcing chamber, which eliminates the need for manual maintenance after installation.
