Working Principle
The CGS382T350W4L capacitors are constructed with two thin layers of aluminum and either an aqueous liquid or solid electrolyte material. These layers and the electrolyte material are separated by a polyester film that is soaked with a conductive liquid for current carrying purposes. An electric field is established across the polyester film and charges both of the aluminum layers with opposite polarity. This creates a capacitance.
When AC (alternating current) or DC (direct current) is applied across the capacitor, a voltage is applied across the anode and cathode of the capacitor, forming a current in the device. The current then runs through the electrolyte material, the electrolyte material is therefore ionized and the capacitance is formed. This process is accompanied by thermal loss but the temperature increases are minimal. The larger the capacitance, the more charge is absorbed by the capacitor.
The anode and the cathode are formed with oxide layers, which are a very thin and electrically insulating. Therefore, the charges remain on the aluminum layers while maintaining the capacitance. In order to get a higher capacitance, the aluminum layers are usually stacked together creating a higher capacitance value for the CGS382T350W4L capacitors.
