Optoisolators are electrical components which are designed to provide electrical isolation of one circuit from another. The CNY117F-3X001 is an example of such a device, and is used in applications where isolation of two circuits is required for consistent and reliable performance. This device consists of an optocoupler that contains an infrared LED and a phototransistor with a built-in Darlington output stage. The LED and phototransistor are optically coupled so that no electrical connection exists between the two.The CNY117F-3X001 provides a contact voltage to the phototransistor when the LED is triggered by a logic level signal. When the LED is off, the output of the phototransistor is in the off-state, with an insulation resistance of 5 kΩ or greater between the collector and emitter. When the LED is on, the output of the phototransistor is switched to its on-state, wherein the collector and emitter become shorted and the device can carry current up to 2 amperes.The CNY117F-3X001 is an excellent choice for applications in which two separate and independent circuits need to be isolated from each other, such as automation, process control, industrial instrumentation, and solenoid valve control. The device offers high speed response time of 0.11 μsec and low leakage current of 50 nA, preventing noise and spikes from interfering with the signal. The device also offers excellent reliability with up to a 1 million operation life expectancy.The CNY117F-3X001 is a five-pin device, with input pins of an Anode and Cathode which are connected to the LEDs in the optocoupler. The other two pins are the Emitter and Collector, which are connected to the phototransistor. The last pin is the Gate, which is used to trigger the LED.When the Anode and Cathode inputs of the CNY117F-3X001 receive a logic level signal, the LED is triggered, allowing current to flow from the Anode to the Cathode. The LED emits a light signal, which is received by the phototransistor, causing the Collector and Emitter to become shorted and allowing current to flow through the device. The Gate pin can be used to trigger the LED on and off at predetermined intervals, providing further versatility to the device.The CNY117F-3X001 is an ideal device for providing excellent electrical isolation between two separate and independent circuits. Its high speed response time and low leakage current make it ideal for applications in which noise and interference could pose a problem, while its reliability ensures consistent performance.
