CNY171SVM optoisolators are devices that couple electronic current from an input signal to an output signal while keeping them completely isolated from each other. The CNY171SVM optoisolator consists of four main components – an input source, a phototransistor, a photodiode, and an output amplifier. The input signal is coupled into the phototransistor, which is encapsulated within the optoisolator package. The phototransistor is essentially a small bridge-rectifier that allows electrical current through the LED only when the voltage goes above a certain threshold. This is called the breakover voltage and determines the cut-off frequency of the signal. This current is then coupled to the output amplifier, which amplifies the signal and drives it to the required output voltage level.
